White water canoe and kayak slalom race
In connection with the Stone Arch Festival, a white water canoe and kayak slalom race will be held within the Xcel Energy Hennepin Island power plant discharge channel. The Stone Arch Slalom is the third in the seven race Buttercup Series.

News from Carol Oosterhuis, Second Precinct Police Station
The Minneapolis total violent crime rate continues to be lower than last year by 12%. Minneapolis has had 13 homicides this year to date (none for two weeks). This is a 38% decrease from 21 homicides at this time in 2007.
Robberies decreased by 29% this week. The year-to-date decrease is 12% compared to 2007. Aggravated assaults are 13% lower in this year-to-date period. Rape has decreased by 7% this year.
2nd Precinct: In 2nd Precinct Part 1 Crimes (Homicide, Rape, Robbery, Agg. Assault, burglary, theft, Auto theft and Arson) are down 35% year to date when compared to the same time one year ago.
